Creative wood workshops for schools, childcare organizations and ngo’s working with disadvantaged schoolchildren and youth.
Janwillem was temporarily hired and cooperated with the educational team of a Dutch school in the Algarve. He performed an extensive range of creative -and technical woodworkshops with children of different age-groups. Examples: birdhouses hammering and painting with the 8 to 12 year old. Fret-sawing practice: sawing and painting Birds from thin plywood. Performing the “Bird-game” with the youngest children, age 4-5 years old.
He also made “Dreamhouses” from plywood and recycled materials with pupils from 13 years on.
The primary school longed for a treehouse build in the tree standing in the back of the school-playground. This tree however was just a bit to young to perform this task as a climbing tree for busy children. So we decided to change the purpose of the tree into a more spiritual direction and declared the tree as a part of “Holy Nature”. Consequentely we build a seperate wooden playing house from pallets with a small group of enthusiastic parents and youngsters. After finishing the hut, the younger children started playing and painting the hut with marvellous designs, drawings and colours: Mission accomplished!
In sensing and observing the educational environment, Janwillems’ intuition exactly tells him how to proceed and in what exact practical way. Playfull, loving and innocent but always searching for teachings of simple and pure wisdom in the moment, challenging the childrens’ consiousness and creativity.
